A three-day watercolour retreat with artist Holly Foskett-Barnes
23rd to 25th April 2027
Cost: From £380
Slow Waters is a gentle three-day watercolour retreat inspired by the landscape, plants and poetry of the Lake District.
Set within the beautiful gardens, woodland and waterfalls of Rydal Hall, you’ll spend the weekend slowing down, exploring the natural world and developing your watercolour skills in a relaxed and supportive environment.
Inspired by the historic gardens, local fells and waterfalls, Holly will guide you through painting spring flowers and Lake District landscapes, with step-by-step demonstrations and individual support throughout.
Alongside painting, the retreat includes guided meditations, poetry readings, an evening of fireside folklore and storytelling, and plenty of time to walk, rest or paint independently in the grounds.
The retreat is beginner-friendly and suitable for all levels, whether you are picking up a paintbrush for the first time in years or already have an established creative practice.
The retreat includes two nights’ accommodation at Rydal Hall, with all meals provided from Friday dinner through to Sunday lunch. Guests will enjoy guided watercolour sessions and demonstrations, with an artist-quality materials pack available to borrow if needed. The retreat also includes daily meditation and poetry, an evening of fireside folklore and storytelling, plenty of free time to explore the gardens and surrounding landscape, and a handmade pocket notebook for collecting sketches and observations throughout the weekend.
Come and immerse yourself in painting, poetry and the peaceful beauty of Rydal Hall, creating from a place of rested calm.
