Our Cafe Near Ambleside
Our cafe sits in the grounds of Rydal Hall, just a short walk from Ambleside. Originally, Sir Daniel Fleming built it as a schoolroom for his sons. His accounts show that he employed a tutor for a few weeks or months at a time. Then, once his sons had learned all they could, he appointed a new tutor to teach a different subject. In fact, one of his sons, George Fleming, went on to become Bishop of Carlisle.
Day parking available – parking within the Hall grounds is limited. If you are not a resident, please pay at reception to park. Alternatively, the nearest public car park is at Pelter Bridge.
