Retreat Description:
This is a two day course which covers the rise of the arts and literary movement called modernism. Taking the book by Julia Kristeva poetry and revolution as our inspiration We can see how poetry was changed in the hands of the artists of the 19th Century. As they sought to create a new society, and a new set of artistic experiences after the various political upheavals in France at the time. The course is divided up into four parts which covers two days.
First a taster session which explains, or outlines the course progression. The next session is looking at the Symbolist poets.
Day 2 deals with Various aspects of Modernism covering the surrealists and others that followed in that path such artists as Joyce and Artaud. We shall be looking at the poems created, and their origins from Edgar Allen Poe to Shakespear Possibly the first symbolist poet.
Bio:
Passionate teacher and creator of music and art. Robert has over five years teaching experience at his present company. But over twenty years teaching experience in various locations around Liverpool and Bristol. He has also curated events in various musical and artistic spheres. Robert regularly contributes music related articles to magazines, and creates alternative CD releases via the Vinyl Kitchen record label.
