The Earth is the Lord’s – Quiet Day

In April, the earth begins to sing again.
As Earth Day draws near, this Quiet Day offers space to rediscover creation not as backdrop, but as gift — as sacrament.
At Rydal Hall, the landscape itself becomes our chapel. We will pray with the psalms beneath open sky, listen to the wisdom of wind and water, and reflect on what it means to belong to the earth as well as to God. Silence will be spacious; gratitude will be gentle and unforced.
This is not a day of heavy obligation, but of renewed love — a remembering that the world is charged with divine generosity.
Led by our Rydal Chaplain, Lawrence Basham, this Quiet Day will gently explore the Christian calling to cherish and tend the earth as grateful stewards of God’s beloved creation. Earth Day offers us more than awareness; it invites repentance, gratitude, and renewed commitment to live more lightly and lovingly within God’s world.
As spring unfolds around us, we will rediscover creation as sacred gift and shared home.
Come and pray with the hills and water.
Come and listen for God in wind and birdsong.
