Details

Nestled in the peaceful woodlands within Rydal Hall, our tranquil campsite offers the perfect retreat for individuals and families seeking a quiet escape into nature. Located within a conservation area beneath the iconic Fairfield Horseshoe, we rae just 1 mile from Ambleside and 2.5 miles from Grasmere. With Rydal Water and the famous Rydal Caves right on your doorstep, our site provides a simple yet confortable base for exploring the stunning landscapes of the Lake District – England’s largest National Park.

Our facilities include a shower and toilet block supplied by our own private water source. Electricity is generated by our on-site hydroelectric plant, supported by solar power, ensuring excellent facilities with minimal environmental impact.

Our campsite is open all year round except the Christmas period – 24th to the 27th December each year.

Campsite Guidelines

  •  Peace & Quiet. Our site is a place of tranquillity and natural beauty. to maintain this atmosphere, loud or excessive noise/music is not tolerated at any time.
  • Group Bookings. Family groups of up to 4 adults and 4 children are welcome without prior arrangement. Larger groups must contact us in advance.
  • Responsible Guests Only. We do not accept hen, stag, birthday parties or same sex groups. Group bookings are subject to restrictions during peak times.
  • Facilities. Plug sockets and hairdryers are available in the shower block – A small freezer is provided for ice blocks – Fire pits are allowed but must be raised at least 2ft off the ground and kept under control at all times. Fires must be extinguished by 10:30pm. Firewood is available at reception. All pitches are wehicle-free. All cars must use designated parking areas; Please note, some pitches may require a short uphill walk.
  • Group Use & Special Bookings – We are proud to host Duke of Edinburgh groups at certain times of the year. Please note that large group bookings during mid and high season (especially during school and bank holidays) are limited unless the entire campsite is booked exclusively.

 

Please note

  • We do not except Campervans and motorhomes, Overnight sleeping in any vehicles is prohibited, and guests will be removed if found in breach of our licence.
  • Rooftop tents and trailer tents are not permitted.

Please ensure dogs are always kept on a lead, as livestock may be present on-site.

Dogs stay free of charge, but please let us know if you’re bringing one.

Tucked away in a quiet corner of our tranquil campsite, our three eco pods offer a rustic, back-to-nature experience. Located just steps from the scenic Coffin Route, you’re only a picturesque 1-mile stroll away from the charming village of Ambleside.

Enjoy the simplicity of camping – without the hassle of pitching a tent. Just arrive, unload, and relax.

Our guests share the campsite facilities, including a shower and toilet block, all supplied by our private water source. Electricity across the site is powered by an on-site hydroelectric plant, supported by solar energy, ensuring a comfortable and eco-friendly stay.

What To Expect

  •  All pods are unfurnished – no heating, electricity, or cooking facilities.
  • Guests must bring their own camping and sleeping equipment.
  • A weather-resistant alternative to tents.

Facilities & Site Guidelines

  •  Private fire pit at each pod (fires must be extinguished b 10:30pm.
  • All dogs must be kept on a lead at all times due to livestock. Dog charges apply.
  • Quiet campsite. Quiet hours: 9pm – 8am.
  • No loud noise/music at any time.
  • Each pod includes a bench for your convenience.
