About Rydal Hall
Rydal Hall was previously the home of the Le Fleming family before being sold to the Diocese of Carlisle in the 1960's. Beautifully restored over many years, the Hall, and the surrounding estate and buildings are now available for individuals and groups to come and enjoy.
The main Hall comprises 30 bedrooms with a total of 56 bed spaces. Many of the rooms are ensuite and are booked on a first come first serve basis at no extra charge.
We also offer meeting room options to suit your conferencing needs. The largest of our meeeting rooms is the Bishop Bulley Barn - ideally suited for our wedding receptions, dances and larger meetings. Maximum seated capacity is approx 100. Within the Hall there are four smaller meeting rooms; the Drawing Room which seats approx 50; the Old Kitchen which seats 30; the Library which seats approx 20 and the Bishops Room which holds approx 10 - 15 depending on the requirements.
At Rydal Hall we also have the advantage of owning a large estate which includes the restored Thomas Mawson garden which is open every day 10am til 4pm , over 34 acres of woodland, the free flowing beck which produces the majestic Rydal waterfalls (made famous by William Wordsworth) and is situated on a section of the Coffin Trail – the picturesque pathway from Grasmere to Ambleside.
With wonderful views over the Rothay Valley, with the Fairfield Horseshoe and Nab Scar as a backdrop, Rydal Hall is the perfect place for you to come and enjoy this beautiful part of the world.
If you are someone who enjoys walking, the possibilities are limitless, from gentle strolls around the garden, to more adventurous walks on public footpaths or out on the fells. For the more adventurous, we are ideally suited for you to access a wide variety of other activities on or around the lakes - from abseiling to white water kayaking!
Whatever you decide, we look forward to welcoming you.
