An Introduction to Seeking and Encountering God in the outdoors

Many people recognise the outdoors as a place of connecting with something greater than themselves, that there is something ‘beyond the view’. Come and join us for a weekend of exploring ideas and practices to deepen the experiences you have in nature. Open yourself up to these natural encounters becoming part of your whole life transformation.
This weekend’s input is shaped by a Christian narrative, but is intended to be accessible for those just beginning to explore; to those looking to expand their approach as a follower; and to those who would ‘rather be in the Mountains thinking of God than in a church thinking of the mountains’.
During our time together there will be short teachings sessions to introduce ideas and practices; time and space outdoors to begin trying them out and to simply explore the beautiful natural setting of Rydal Hall gardens and the surrounding Fells; facilitated times of sharing and learning from one another as a group. There will also be the option on the Saturday for a guided, moderately challenging outdoor excursion to Rydal Fell and Alcock tarn. And a shorter walk along Rydal Beck on Sunday.
The retreat will be led by Paul Rose. Paul works for the Carlisle Diocese as a Pioneer Enabler with a focus on the outdoors and is co-founder of Mountain Pilgrims – a movement of people committed to deepening people’s experience of the rest of nature for the transformation of lives.
Paul has lived and worked in Cumbria with his wife and two daughters for over 16 years. As a trained Mountain Leader, coach and spiritual director, Paul has hosted a number of retreats, facilitated workshops and led adventures exploring how God reveals through creation.
