A Quiet Day

A Quiet Day 23rd March 2024

A Quiet Day

  • Saturday 23rd March 2024
  • 10.00 am – 3.00 pm
  • Price: Suggested donation £10.00
  • Theme - Songs in the Night: discovering light in the darkness
  • Leader: Kath Dodd

We all experience dark times in our lives, whether times of sadness, uncertainty, disorientation, disappointment, frustration or bereavement, etc. Many of us also experience difficulty sleeping at night. So together, we will bring to God the night experiences of our lives, whether they are dark times or sleepless nights, and will find we are given a song to sing. We will draw on the Psalms, St John of the Cross, and the wealth of Christian hymnody. The day will include input, prayer, personal space, optional sharing and some singing.

Kath is a retired Baptist minister who spent nearly 30 years sharing ministry with her husband at Hawkshead Hill Baptist Chapel. During that time, the Chapel and grounds were renovated and developed so that today, they include a Quiet Garden, the Upper Room (retreat flat), and a welcoming chapel for quiet reflection. She is a mother to three married children and currently has 6 grandchildren. She is a keen pianist, loves being outdoors whether on an electric bike or in the garden, and enjoys photography, reading, new experiences…and Scottish dancing.

Kath has been part of the Cumbria Ecumenical Spirituality Group since 2011 and helped run their 2 courses: Nourishing the Soul and Spiritual Direction Training course – all of which have been personally life-giving. She is keen to help others discover more of the love and joy that God wants to pour into our hearts and lives.

Free Car Parking: permit available from Reception.
