A stunning location situated in 34 acres of woodland, Rydal Hall was once the home of the Le Fleming family before being sold to the Diocese of Carlisle in the 1960s. Beautifully restored over many years, the Hall and the surrounding estate and buildings are now available for individuals and groups to come and enjoy.
We have the advantage of owning a large estate which includes the restored Thomas Mawson garden which is open every day between 10am – 4pm, over 34 acres of woodland including a free flowing beck which produces the majestic Rydal waterfalls (made famous by William Wordsworth). We make an ideal starting point for a section of the well-known Coffin Trail – the picturesque pathway from Grasmere to Ambleside.
With wonderful views over the Rothay Valley, with the Fairfield Horseshoe and Nab Scar as a backdrop, Rydal Hall is the perfect place for you to come and enjoy this beautiful part of the world.
If you are someone who enjoys walking, the possibilities are limitless, from gentle strolls around the garden, to more adventurous walks on public footpaths or out on the fells. For the more adventurous, we are ideally suited for you to access a wide variety of other activities on or around the lakes – from abseiling to white water kayaking!
Whatever you decide, we look forward to welcoming you.
