Guided Tours and Booking
Tours are available at Rydal and are led by Head Gardener, Iain Turnbull who was appointed in Nov 2007 to continue to oversee the restoration and establishment of the gardens from its beginnings in Sep 2005
Normally, guided tours take the form of a leisurely stroll around the main features of the formal and informal gardens with the opportunity to visit the community vegetable garden, for those who wish to do so, after tea and cake.
An entertaining mix of the gardens history, the Rydal story, the people involved and the ongoing restoration of the gardens, the tour will also give your group a feel for Rydal’s vision for the ongoing development of the wider estate including areas of seasonal interest. The tour typically lasts between 1 to 1 ½ hours with refreshments afterwards.
The guided tour is suitable for visitors of all ages and abilities. Should any members of a group have walking difficulties, please let us know at time of booking and we can usually take this into account. However please be aware that the garden does contain stairs and the topography of the site dictates some slopes and uneven ground.
