The Chapel at Rydal Hall
It is not by accident that our Chapel is situated in the very heart of the Hall, and that its windows take in one of the most beautiful views in the Lake District. Prayer is at the heart of all we offer at Rydal Hall, as is an appreciation of beauty and the fragility of the environment in which we live.
The Chapel is available for private prayer all day every day, and guests are encouraged to take advantage of its peace and tranquillity, regardless of their denomination. However, three times each day you might like to share your worship with others.
The central part of life for many at Rydal Hall is our daily cycle of prayer. It might take the form of Eucharist, a service from our own prayer book, a meditation, or another denomination’s form of worship. Details of services are listed a week in advance outside the chapel.
Morning Prayer takes place at 8.00am every day, Monday to Saturday.
On Wednesdays and Fridays this takes the form of Holy Communion, whilst on other days of the week it reflects the denomination of the Community Member leading the worship, and might take the form of Morning Prayer from the Book of Common Prayer or, once a month, Roman Catholic Mass.
Community Chapel takes place at 11.45am every day, Monday to Saturday.
This is the time when all the members of Rydal Hall Community, friends from the neighbourhood and guests get together to share their prayers, thoughts and spiritual journeys. The worship is led by members of the Community in turn, and can take a variety of forms, ranging from the formal to the more experimental. Everyone is welcome to join us for this very important part of our day.
Evening Prayer takes place at 5.00pm every evening.
This is an opportunity to close the day by sharing some quiet with fellow guests and Community members. When possible this is led by a member of the Community.
Sundays – Sung Eucharist takes place at St Mary’s Church, Rydal at 9.30am.
For times of services at other local Churches, please see our notice board.
Taizé Style Worship
The first Sunday in the month at 7.00pm.
