The Bishop Bulley Barn is a significant building at Rydal Hall. Sadly, it has been rather neglected in recent years, so plans are afoot to revitalise it and return it to being a real asset for the Hall, for our guests and for the wider local community.
The main issues are that it is too dark and too cold. As a Grade II* listed building, it is not possible to add windows to flood this magnificent space with natural light. So we intend to bring the light in and are investing in new lighting and heating to allow the old Barn to shine.
Leading art tutor Robert Dutton (who has run very successful art holidays at Rydal for a number of years) has generously offered three of his award-winning style paintings inspired by the landscape surrounding the Hall for a “bid by post” auction to help raise funds for the improvements in the Barn.
It could be yours
The bid by post auction is an opportunity for you to own your very own impressionistic and expressive painting by one of the north of England’s leading contemporary artists in his field.
All the paintings are bespoke framed in either natural oak or black stained oak.
All you have to do is select the painting(s) you like best, then either email us or contact us by post and let us know your best offer on the painting of your choice. The highest bid received for each on October 1st 2017 will win the auction.
Funds raised will be used to help breathe new life into our Barn so it can become a hub of activity for many to enjoy for years to come.
So have a go, place a bid. You never know – one of Robert’s original bespoke framed paintings could be yours!
